  • How do I carry enough water for 3 days?

The island will provide the campsite with gallons of water. This is included in your attendance fee.

  • I’m scared to get attacked by an animal on the hike. Should I be worried?

Wild bison do roam the island, but the sighting is rare. If you’re worried about this, you can read What To Do If A Bison Attacks. There are also native foxes on the island, but Viske might eat them before they can get to you.

  • Can I drive there?

    Absolutely not.

  • Where do we meet to take the Catalina Express?

We meet at the Catalina Sea & Air Terminal in San Pedro at 8 AM sharp on Friday, August 20th. The ferry departs at 8:30 AM.

  • Is food included?

Unfortunately, since we’re backpacking, you must provide your own food. Water is provided, but that is it! We recommend coordinating this with your friend group.

  • Are there bathrooms at the camp site?

Parson’s Landing has two outhouses. The toilets are not flushable (Porta Potty style) and there are no showers. We’re dry camping y’all! If you prefer, you can always do your business somewhere in the great outdoors.

  • Do I need to wear a mask?

The Catalina Express requires all occupants to wear a mask. You may also be required to wear a mask if entering a shop or restaurant at Two Harbors. Everywhere else, the choice is yours. We respect all personal decisions and expect all attendees to respect each other’s freedom of choice as well. Please bring one with you if you plan to take the Catalina Express or enter the shop, bar, or restaurant at any time.

  • Are there other ways to get to Parson's Landing, aside from the Catalina Express?

If you’re planning on hiking, the only way to do this is to take the Catalina Express into Two Harbors. You can do this out of San Pedro or Long Beach. The large group hike will be taking the boat from San Pedro Port to Two Harbors on Friday @ 8:30 AM and the return trip from Two Harbors to San Pedro Port on Sunday @ 2:30 PM. You can purchase your own ticket here or you can opt to get your ticket through us. You’ll need to specify this in the option on the RSVP page, when you select your package type.

However, some opt to take boats directly to Parson’s to avoid the hike. If you’re a crazy ass, like Max, you might take a jet ski. You may ask Max if you can go butts to nuts with him in advance. Choose your own adventure.

  • Is there cell service?

Don’t worry, we’re not judging. We hope you’ll spend most of your time getting amongst nature, but the answer is yes. Some mobile providers do get service at Parson’s. If you’re the type to get anxious without a phone or you’ve got kids at home, bring a portable phone charger and you need not worry.
